I've already been to Istanbul a couple of times and I've always stayed at the Orient International Hostel. It's obviously very affordable, in a good location, in Sultanahmet, on Akbiyik Caddesi. The rooms are clean, it's got a great terrace up on the roof and it's loads of fun. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday evening they have free belly-dancing shows. So if you like to party, it's the place to go. Their website is www.orienthostel.com and the number is 0212-518 0789.
