Not only it's safe, but it's an absolute must. You can't leave Turkey without pampering yourself by going to one of these "hamams". For about 10 Euros, you get a sauna, you get to be washed by an attendant and for a little extra you can even get one of the best massages you'll ever experience. Trust me, you don't want to miss it! I went to Cemberlitas Hamami, off Divan Yolu street and loved it.
