A majestic cistern in Istanbul... Basilica Cistern

Posted 1 year ago by avatar forestgump in response to aldo's question: Sights in Istanbul are so numerous that I don't know where to go... I definitely can't visit them all. Any suggestions? (give a different answer) .

If you wanna see something really amazing the visit the Basilica Cistern (also called the Yerebatan Saray), the largest of today known cistern. It was bult by the Greeks in the 16th century, during the reign of Justinian I. It is 139 meters long and about 65 meters wide. Inside it has 12 rows, each one with 28 marble columns. Address - Yerebatan Caddesi, Sultan Ahmet.
