Even if the Hippodrome from Istanbul it's not what used to be in the past, go and have a look.

In Sultanahmet, right in front of the Blue Mosque, there is the Hippodrome. Very little of the original one can be seen today, but let's not forget that it was the centre of Constantinople's life for over 1000 years. Built by the Romans around 200AD, the Hippodrome was used for chariots races and other events. During Justinian's rule many horrible riots took place here.
