I'm one of the last surviving specimens of museum-lovers. What is there not to be missed in Istanbul?(give a different answer) .
The Kariye museum in the Old City, by the Edirne Gate, is a former mosque changed into a museum. First erected in the 5th century, it was then rebuilt many times, the last decorations being accomplished by the prime minister of Turkey in 1321, as the leader of Renaissance. It's beauty stands in the frescoes and mosaics showing biblical scenes from Adam to the earthly anguish of Christ, along with unique Byzantine paintings. Great opportunity to collect your thoughts!
