moxie's question:
Is the Ottoman sultan buried in the mosque wearing his name from Istanbul?(give a different answer) .
Yes, Suleiman the Magnificent rests in an octagonal complicated tomb, embellished with tiles inside the mosque. Near him, it's his favourite wife, widely known as Roxelana, "the Russian", and the architect who designed the grand church, but in a humble grave. Suleiman himself ordered the construction of the monument in 1550 for his own praise, and what resulted was the biggest mosque in Istanbul. Set in Hesapcesme Caddesi Beyazit, it's famed for the minarets and outstanding acoustics.
