Short description of Istanbul's Topkapi Palace

The palace is a famous sight in Istanbul because it was the residence of Ottoman sultans for almost 4 centuries (from the conquest of Constantinople in 1453 until the reign of Abdulmecid I, 1839-1860). It has some great imperial buildings (some are audience chambers, other sleeping quarters or pavilions) and 4 big courtyards. The best inside it are the harem and the room with precious objects, called the Treasury.
