Don't leave Istanbul before going for a walk along Istiklal Caddesi, the most popular strolling and shopping street in the city. Beginning at Taksim Square the avenue has along its sides collections of shops and boutiques, churches and buildings, teahouses and restaurants. Don't be afraid of the cars because there isn't any. The boulevard is only for pedestrians... except that picturesque tram runing up and down the street.
